Castaways Marina in Jupiter, Florida is home of new island style Tiki Bar called The Square Grouper. The site is an old piece of property brought back to life by the owner, Jim Burg. The Marina and Tiki bar are located right on the Intercostal Waterway at the Jupiter Inlet.

The views are magnificent; you can see the Jupiter Lighthouse, the Jupiter Inlet, the ocean and Jupiter Island . The atmosphere is totally laid back and casual. The feel of "Old Florida" can be found at Castaways.

Alan Jackson was inspired by this location to shoot the video for his and Jimmy Buffett's new number one hit, It's Five O'clock Somewhere. See photos. It's always five o'clock at the Square Grouper. The white sandy beaches, coconut palms and turquoise blue water are truly an amazing sight.

Along with the Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett video many other television productions have been shot at Castaways. Country Music Television did their Top Twenty Countdown show and Alan Jackson Greatest Video Hits.

The annual Grandslam Kingfish, Dolphin and Wahoo tournament's weigh station is at Castaways Marina in May every year. It is always a huge success. A great time is had by all who participate in the tournament whether they fish in it or volunteer. See photos.

The dock at Castaways is filled with charter boats for fishing and diving. Several commercial fishing boats are also docked at Castaways.

More information to come on hours of operation and contacts for charters.

Castaways Marina site dates back to the early 1890's. The Marina was near the original roadbed of the Jupiter and Lake Worth Railroad, more famously known as The Celestial Railroad.

At that time the site hosted a two story hotel and saloon. Wealthy, fashionable tourist ventured south on the Indian River by steamer or aboard their own yachts. Some spent the night at the hotel near the Jupiter dock while others stopped by the saloon and then departed. President Cleveland and other dignitaries stopped by the hotel and saloon for dinner. The hotel dining room provided exquisite views of the water and hosted dances and entertainment of various kinds including a community Christmas celebration.

After the hotel was abandoned the site became a frequent meeting place for friendship, dances and other community events, much like Castaways is today. In 1906 the area where Castaways, Schooners and The Crab House are now located was purchased for $2500.00. This riverfront swampland known as Suni Sands was filled in as was a lot of property along the shore. The property exchanged owners several times in the early 1900's until 1949 when pieces of the property were separately sold.

The Castaways site for the current marina was erected in 1970. The marina received its first liquor license shortly thereafter. In 2000 Castaways was purchased by its current owner Jim Burg. The property had become rundown and needed some work to beautify what had become an eyesore. Non-native trees were removed; trash and decaying boats were hauled off. A new seawall was installed and The "Old Florida" charm was quickly renewed on the site. In the properties traditions a frequent meeting place for friendship and community goodwill was re-established. In 2003 Castaways Marina was host to The Annual Grandslam Kingfish, Dolphin, Wahoo Fishing Tournament, The Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffet number one hit song and video It's Five O'clock Somewhere production and other television productions.
